Track description

In an era defined by rapid technological change, interconnectivity, and increasing complexity, traditional approaches to problem-solving often fall short.

This track explores how systems thinking, with its holistic, transdisciplinary outlook and multi-perspectival and multi-methodological orientation can provide the frameworks and tools needed to better understand and navigate the challenges of a tech-driven world.

From artificial intelligence and automation to digital platforms and smart infrastructures, technology is reshaping the fabric of our societies, economies, and organizations. Yet with this transformation comes a host of new problems: unintended consequences, ethical dilemmas, systemic risk, and growing uncertainty. Addressing these issues requires a shift in mindset toward understanding the interdependencies, feedback loops, emergent behaviors, pluralism, and power relationships that characterize complex systems.

We invite contributions that apply systems thinking to the technological challenges that confront contemporary society. Topics may include, but are not limited to:

• Socio-technical systems

• Cybernetics

• Digital governance

• Sustainability in tech ecosystems

• Systemic innovation

• Human-machine interaction

• Resilience and adaptability in digital contexts

• The role of systems methodologies (e.g., soft systems, viable systems model, system dynamics) within technology-related domains

• Critical systems thinking for a tech-driven world.

The track welcomes theoretical, empirical, and applied research from a broad range of disciplines, including systems science, management, engineering, information systems, sociology, and beyond.

Whether you are developing new models of systemic change, analyzing failures in digital transformation, or designing interventions in tech-saturated environments, this track offers a platform for interdisciplinary dialogue and discovery.
