TRACK TOPIC DESCRIPTION:

This track topic seeks to further debate and discuss the important concept of Sustainable Development.
Sustainable development has been defined as 'development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs'. Sustainable Development foresees the transformation of today economy and society to create a world where economic growth no longer harms the environment for the sake of future generations.

This track considers how various systems and complexity-based approaches can help us plan for and realise sustainable development. It welcomes contributions from those working within the systems engineering, system dynamics, cybernetic, soft and critical traditions of research and practice.

The scope of the track therefore calls for contributions which have a local, national or global focus from a wide range of disciplines with both an academic and a practical perspective. In particular, within the general scopes of the Symposium 2018 the track aims to  investigate how digital systems can  drive progress towards a more just and sustainable economy.

Topics include (but are not limited to):

  • Sustainable Development;
  • Business Ethics;
  • Corporate Social Responsibility,
  • Sustainable Management;
  • Environmental Policy;
  • Environmental Accountability .
